Boy Or Girl Predictor

Pre-Birth Baby Boy Or Girl Predictors

In this article we’ll take a look at how to predict the gender of your baby after you find out you’re pregnant. It’s estimated that between 50% and 70% of couples want to know the sex of their unborn child. You can, of course, try the Old Wives Tales, or the Chinese Lunar Calendar For Baby Gender Prediction, as your baby gender predictor, but today we are going to look at some more “scientific” methods of determining the sex of your baby.

Why Find Out Your Baby’s Gender Before Birth?

Why would you want to find out your un-born baby’s gender? There are many very good reasons you would want to:

  • The ability to choose your baby’s name before birth.
  • Allows you to set-up the new baby’s room gender specific.
  • You can buy your baby’s clothes before birth.
  • You may find you can bond more readily to your new baby.
  • You can plan things such as circumcision pre-birth.
  • You could learn early on if there are any gender specific genetic disorders to contend with.
  • To give yourself time to adjust if you were hoping for a baby of the other gender.

How To “Predict” If You’ll Have A Boy Or Girl

Ultrasound-is the most commonly used scientific procedure used as a boy or girl predictor of your unborn baby. Although you may have several ultrasounds during your pregnancy, you’ll have to wait until your 4th or 5th month to answer the question: (Is it a boy or a girl?) with much accuracy.

Not only the age of the fetus, but also the position of the fetus during the ultrasound, as well as the skill of the your health care practitioner in preforming the ultrasound can have a baring on it’s accuracy as well.

Amniocentesis-is a more invasive procedure in which a needle is inserted into the uterus to remove some of the fluid (amniotic fluid) and this can be tested. This test is usually performed to test women who are at a higher risk of passing on genetic diseases or birth defects. It is however up to 99% accurate in predicting the gender of a baby as well, and is usually preformed in the 9th to 18th week of your pregnancy.

Keep in mind that this procedure carries a risk of miscarriage, which can occur in about 1% of those tested.

Chorionic Villus Sampling or CVS-is also about 99% accurate to predict baby gender, and is usually preformed in the 8th to the 11th week of your pregnancy.

It is usually preformed on women who are a high risk of genetic or chromosomal abnormality. During a CVS some cells (called villi) are removed from the woman’s placenta and are tested for genetic abnormalities.

This test also carries some risk of miscarriage (about a 4%) as well as an increased chance of infection, premature labor and possible fetal damage.

Right at the moment of conception your baby’s life begins. The gender of your baby is determined at that moment also. If the (xy) sperm fertilizes the egg you’ll have a boy baby, if the (xx) sperm does the deed you’ll have a little girl baby.  Finding out the gender of your unborn baby is a very personal matter, while some couples can’t wait to know, others feel it takes something away from the experience.

Whether you want to know your unborn baby’s sex or not, what’s most important is staying healthy and strong throughout your pregnancy, and delivering a strong healthy baby!
